American Educational Research Association Minority Fellowship Program

The AERA offers doctoral fellowships to enhance the competitiveness of outstanding minority scholars for academic appointments at major research universities. It supports fellows conducting education research and provides mentoring and guidance toward the completion of their doctoral studies.
Fellows will receive a 1-year stipend of $12,000 and up to $1,000 in travel support to attend the AERA Annual Meeting. Fellowships may be supplemented by university or department awards and tuition waivers. Such supplements are encouraged.
This program is targeted for members of racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in higher education (e.g., African Americans, Alaskan Natives, American Indians, Asian Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islanders).
Blakemore Freeman Fellowships for Advanced Asian Language Study

Blakemore Foundation
Blakemore Freeman grants are awarded to individuals pursuing professional, academic, or business careers that involve the regular use of an East or Southeast Asian language. The grants fund a year of advanced language study at an institution in Asian such as the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies in Yokohama, the Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies at Tsinghua University in Beijing, the International Chinese Language Program at National Taiwan University in Taipei, or similar structured programs in Asia.
The grants cover tuition and a stipend for related educational expenses, basic living costs and transportation, but do not include dependent expenses.

DHS HS-STEM Summer Internship Program

Provides a 10-week summer research experience for junior and senior undergraduate students majoring in homeland security related science, technology, engineering and mathematics (HS-STEM) disciplines. Students will have the opportunity to conduct research in DHS mission-relevant areas at various federal research facilities. The DHS Scholarship and Fellowship Program is intended for students interested in pursuing the basic science and technology innovations that can be applied to the DHS mission. This education program is intended to ensure a highly talented science and technology community to achieve the DHS mission and objectives. BrainTrack.com is pleased to announce four new scholarships for business, elementary education, computer science, and nursing.
* Selection Criteria: Winners will be selected based on the creativity, focus, overall thoughtfulness, accuracy, and practical value of responses to essay questions. The questions ask students about how they chose their major, their experiences as a student, and their suggestions for prospective students. The late Ruth Gosnell, a former Baltimore County teacher and principal, wanted to provide loans to College and Graduate degree students. The Ruth Gosnell Education Fund, established in 1982 by the Springfield Presbyterian Church's Session, provides interest-free loans to full-time deserving college juniors, seniors, and graduate school students. Polish Heritage Association of Maryland

Polish Heritage Association of Maryland will be providing several $1,500 scholarship grants to both undergraduate and graduate students for the academic year 2010/2011.
To qualify the applicant must be a full-time college student during the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 semester, a legal resident of Maryland, and have at least two Polish ancestors. Selection will be primarily made on the basis of financial need. Additional evaluation will focus on academic standing, leadership potential and pride of your Polish Heritage.

National Merit Scholarship/College-Sponsored Merit Award

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) has a variety of scholarships that are awarded to students based on academic performance. The University of Maryland serves as a sponsoring institution for students selected by NMSC to receive the College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship award. Students selected for the UM Sponsored Merit award will receive a four-year renewable scholarship ranging from $1,000-$2,000/year. All finalists should follow NMSC's instructions for first choice notifications carefully and observe deadlines to remain eligible for awards.
The National Merit Scholarship also awards Corporate-Sponsored merit scholarships and National Achievement awards.
