New Jersey Agribusiness Association

The New Jersey Agribusiness Association is offering two $1500 scholarships to New Jersey residents majoring in an agricultural subject area (i.e. Plant Science, Animal Science, Agronomy, Entomology, etc.), or related field. Candidates must also intend to pursue a career in production agriculture and currently be a sophomore, junior or senior.

The dissertation fellowships provide one year of support for individuals working to complete a dissertation leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) degree. Approximately 20 dissertation fellowships will be awarded with a one-year stipend of $21,000.

The postdoctoral fellowships provide one year of support for individuals engaged in postdoctoral study after the attainment of the Ph.D. or Sc.D. degree. The program will award approximately 18 postdoctoral fellowships with a one-year stipend of $40,000.

National Science Foundation (NSF)

he National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced the opening of the 2009-2010 competition for the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). The NSF GRFP is one of the most prestigious science and engineering fellowship programs in the United States. Awardees are provided three years of graduate school support. Fellows receive a $30,000 annual stipend, a $10,500 annual cost of education allowance, a one-time $1,000 international travel allowance, and access to TeraGrid supercomputing facilities.

The program ensures the quality, diversity and vitality of the next generation of U.S. scientists and researchers. The GRFP is intended for students in the early stages of their graduate career who are seeking research-based master's or PhD degrees in NSF-supported disciplines. Applicants should have completed no more than 12 months of graduate study and must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or permanent residents prior to the application deadline date. Women, under-represented minorities, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply for the GRFP.

The application is currently open online and deadlines are November 2-12, depending on field of study.

Candidates must be current active enlisted soldiers assigned to Fort Gordon, Georgia, have completed a minimum of 15 semester hours/25 quarter hours, be currently enrolled either full or part time at an accredited U.S. college and majoring in the following or related fields of electrical, chemical, systems or aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics, science or mathematics education, or computer science. Majors directly relate to the support of U.S. Intelligence enterprises or national security with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible. The minimum GPA requirement is 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

The Vanguard Scholarship Program provides merit-based scholarships of up to $10,000 to minority students pursuing studies in business, finance, economics, accounting, information technology, or the liberal arts.

The Program's goal is to remove financial barriers for students who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential.

The AERA offers doctoral fellowships to enhance the competitiveness of outstanding minority scholars for academic appointments at major research universities. It supports fellows conducting education research and provides mentoring and guidance toward the completion of their doctoral studies.

Fellows will receive a 1-year stipend of $12,000 and up to $1,000 in travel support to attend the AERA Annual Meeting. Fellowships may be supplemented by university or department awards and tuition waivers. Such supplements are encouraged.

This program is targeted for members of racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in higher education (e.g., African Americans, Alaskan Natives, American Indians, Asian Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islanders).

Blakemore Foundation

Blakemore Freeman grants are awarded to individuals pursuing professional, academic, or business careers that involve the regular use of an East or Southeast Asian language. The grants fund a year of advanced language study at an institution in Asian such as the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies in Yokohama, the Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies at Tsinghua University in Beijing, the International Chinese Language Program at National Taiwan University in Taipei, or similar structured programs in Asia.

The grants cover tuition and a stipend for related educational expenses, basic living costs and transportation, but do not include dependent expenses.

The Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF) program provides outstanding benefits and opportunities to students pursuing a PhD in scientific or engineering disciplines with an emphasis in high-performance computing.

BrainTrack.com is pleased to announce four new scholarships for business, elementary education, computer science, and nursing.

* Selection Criteria: Winners will be selected based on the creativity, focus, overall thoughtfulness, accuracy, and practical value of responses to essay questions. The questions ask students about how they chose their major, their experiences as a student, and their suggestions for prospective students. BrainTrack will publish the most helpful responses for use by future students.

* Awards: The best entry for each competition is awarded $1000; the runner-up $500.

* Deadlines: Scholarship competitions run twice a year, for each semester. Submission deadlines are November 1st and March 1st.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) has a variety of scholarships that are awarded to students based on academic performance. The University of Maryland serves as a sponsoring institution for students selected by NMSC to receive the College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship award. Students selected for the UM Sponsored Merit award will receive a four-year renewable scholarship ranging from $1,000-$2,000/year. All finalists should follow NMSC's instructions for first choice notifications carefully and observe deadlines to remain eligible for awards.

The National Merit Scholarship also awards Corporate-Sponsored merit scholarships and National Achievement awards.
