News Feeds
The Office of Student Financial Aid is pleased to announce the availability of the Financial Aid News Feed. The news feed will announce new scholarships and grants, upcoming deadlines, and critical Financial Aid news. If you are familiar with RSS news feeds, just click http://www.financialaid.umd.edu/news/updates.rss. Otherwise, please read on.
What is an RSS reader?
“Really Simple Syndication” (RSS) is a web standard that allows you to subscribe to particular topics of interest. Topics usually are headlines with a short description and a link to a full article. Instead of continually visiting web sites to check for changes, these topics are delivered directly to you by one or more feeds. This enables you to have a single location to check for updates.
News Feeds are viewed with a RSS reader or Aggregator. A RSS Reader may be a standalone program, or it may be incorporated into your favorite browser or portal. Popular readers include
- the My UM portal at my.umd.edu
- mail clients such as Thunderbird
- browsers such as IE and Firefox (using Live Bookmarks)
- Google Reader
- My Yahoo
