Did you know there's a faster way to file the FAFSA? It's called the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. The IRS Data Retrieval Tool allows students and parents to access the IRS tax return information needed to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and transfer the data directly into their FAFSA from the IRS Web site.
As of March 9, 2017, the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on FAFSA.GOV is currently unavailable. This does not limit families ability to apply for financial aid. Applicants have other options while the data tool is unavailable. Please see visit the Federal Student Aid website for additional information.
