Loan Entrance/Exit Counseling
- Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling
If this is the first time you have borrowed a Federal Stafford Loan from the University of Maryland, College Park, you must complete a Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling session. (If you have completed entrance counseling at a previous school, you must still do another Entrance Counseling session for your first Stafford Loan from the University of Maryland, College Park.)
To complete the counseling session on-line, go to Mapping Your Future. At the end of the session your results will be electronically transmitted to UM.
- Stafford Loan Exit Counseling
If you have borrowed a Federal Stafford Loan from the University of Maryland and you will be graduating, withdrawing, or taking a semester off from the University, you must complete a Stafford Loan Exit Counseling session. The exit session is designed to make you aware of your repayment responsibilities, familiarize you with your lender(s), give you examples of repayment schedules, and to answer any questions you may have regarding your loan(s).
To complete an on-line session, go to Mapping Your Future. At the end of the session your results will be electronically transmitted to UM.
- Perkins Loan Exit Interviews
Students who have borrowed Federal Perkins Loans from the University of Maryland, College Park must attend a Perkins Loan Exit Interview Session. The Perkins Loan Exit Interview Sessions for Spring are conducted in May 2008. Please note that the Perkins Loan Exit Interview is separate from that of the Stafford Loan Exit Interview. The Stafford Loan Exit Interview is available online. The Perkins Loan Exit Interview is not available online. If you do not attend any of the scheduled sessions, you must schedule a personal exit interview session with your Perkins Loan Repayment Counselor.

The Perkins Loan Exit Interview Sessions for Spring 2008 are held in the Reckord Armory:Wednesday May 14, 2008 between 12:00pm and 3:30pm in ARM 0112
Thursday May 15, 2008 between 1:30pm and 3:30pm in ARM 0105
Friday May 16, 2008 between 1:30pm and 3:30pm in ARM 0116
The group sessions take approximately 30 minutes. The session will start every half hour beginning at the time designated. The sessions are conducted on a drop in basis.
